THE MANGA

The manga is a 12 book series and each one is a very fun read! I have almost the whole collection, minus book twelve, which i have had to read online (i even have one hardback edition!). I think some of the background character could've used more development, but overall does a decent job at giving us a look into everyones lives. I especially like the arc where the new guardians join, my favorite being Rima! She is so closed off at first but I love seeing her get to know Amu and the former queen chair. It's so cute and fun. I also really liked Yaya's chapter about being a big sister, it gives us a good look into why she has the guardian character she does. Guardian characters as a whole are used as a really cool tool to give the readers insight into characters beyond their outward appearance!

THE SEQUEL

Still reading Shugo Chara! Jewel Joker, but so far I have reached volume 10! The gang is now in middle school and have transferred to solve the secret around the mysterious school that hands out guardian eggs?? It's super fun, especially when you meet Mirage Lynx! I really like Niya as well, and TadeNiya is super cute... The plot feels a bit all over the place with quite a few subplots so I hope everything ties well together in the end, hopefully it runs a bit longer than the first series. Maybe one day we'll see an anime to this series (and hopefully it's better than the first)
